Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera, better known as LTAT, was established in August 1972 by an Act of Parliament which is the Tabung Angkatan Tentera Act (Act 101).
Under the superannuation scheme, serving members of the other ranks in the armed forces are required to contribute 10% of their monthly salary to LTAT with the government as employer contributing 15%. For officers, participation is voluntary and the contributions are a minimum of RM 25 with a maximum of RM2,000 monthly.
